Celebrating Life in Marquetry and Custom Art

Artists Dave Kisker and Ellen Eliason Kisker create art to celebrate life's passions and beauty. 

Both Dave and Ellen practice the art of marquetry.  Marquetry involves creating images—pictures or designs—in wood by carefully cutting pieces of veneer and placing them within the picture.  The images can be incorporated into a special piece of furniture, used to decorate accessories such as jewelry boxes, or framed and hung on the wall.  

Ellen specializes in portraits,  capturing and celebrating the spirit of her subjects.  Some of her work is currently for sale at Gallery M in Half Moon Bay, CA (http://www.gallerym.net/), where she was the featured artist  in July 2007!  

Inspired by views of the Rocky Mountains nearby, Dave specializes in nature scenes, creating intricate pictures with a wide range of woods to capture both the astonishing detail and the awesome grandeur. Using his woodworking skills, he also creates spectacular pieces with applied marquetry.
