Dave has long had an interest in woodworking, and has made several pieces of furniture over the years. About 10 years ago, he became interested in marquetry and acquired a kit to help him learn it. He tried to complete the kit picture using the knife cutting method, but became frustrated and gave up before completing it. In late 2004, Dave investigated ways of learning marquetry and discovered that John Eifler, an expert in marquetry, conducts an open classroom in a local community center. He contacted John, and began attending the classroom and learning John's saw method. See John's web page if you'd like to learn more about him (http://members.aol.com/johneif/index.html). Dave now leads the open classroom, and is a member of the American Marquetry Society. Dave enjoys creating detailed pictures that take advantage of the color and grain of the woods.
